Back in 1970, Rick’s boss and mentor, the City of Riverside Planning Director, would frequently call his underlings into the office to adamantly insist that everything in his department “be done right!” He wanted to install an attitude of excellence in Rick and his cohorts. It worked; before leaving Riverside, Rick had been promoted to Senior Planner for the City. In 1973, Rick moved to the newly incorporated City of Irvine, where he quickly rose through the ranks from Senior Planner to Division Chief. He spent four years helping to create Irvine’s famed “planned communities,” which have since become models for new master-planned communities throughout the USA. His grasp of the permitting process and project management became so honed that by 1977, he was ready to strike out on his own as a private planning consultant. Over the next fifteen years, Rick served as planning director for many of the industry’s top consulting and engineering firms, managing and overseeing literally hundreds of land-planning and development projects throughout California, the United States and the world. Finally, after years of loyal clients urging him to start his own firm, Rick started RGP, a new kind of planning company one that reflects his unique approach to projects and highly personable concern for his clients. Today, our staff includes the most experienced, creative, top-level professionals in the business, who are dedicated to Rick’s long-standing commitment to excellence. |
